IM Sedation

Intramuscular (IM) sedation involves the administration of sedative medications into a muscle, typically in the arm. The medication is injected directly into the muscle tissue, where it is absorbed into the bloodstream to induce a calming and relaxing effect. IM sedation can be used for various medical procedures or situations where oral medication may not be suitable or effective. It's often chosen for its rapid onset of action and is administered under the supervision of trained healthcare professionals to ensure safety and effectiveness.

In shorter procedures, IM sedation is recommended due to its single-dose administration of the sedative medication, unlike IV sedation where doses are titrated to you based on your body's response throughout the entire procedure.
